How do I send money to Thailand?
Sending money to Thailand with Ria is fast, easy, and secure. You can do so via the app, website, or by visiting a Ria location.
To do a Thailand money transfer online, log in to your account and choose “Send money” or “Send.” Then, select the country you want to send money to — in this case, Thailand. Complete the “You send” field to indicate how much money you’re sending in your home country’s currency. Or fill out the “Recipient gets” field to specify how much your recipient should receive.
Next, decide how you want to deliver the money. You can send money to a digital wallet or your recipient’s bank account. Alternatively, you can set up a cash pickup.
Choose an existing recipient or create a new one to send money to. If adding a new recipient, you must provide their full name, country, city, and state. For a Thailand remittance via bank transfer, you’ll also need their bank name, routing number, and account number.
Finally, pay for the transfer using an accepted payment method, such as a debit card, credit card, bank transfer, or cash. Review the information and send your money.
How long does it take to send money to Thailand?
Sending money to Thailand can take anywhere from a few minutes to five business days. However, it depends on the payment method, time, and origin country.
The fastest way to do a Thailand money transfer is via a debit card, credit card, or cash at a Ria location. This usually takes a few minutes to several hours. Bank account transfers tend to take 3-5 business days.
You can also set up a money transfer via a money transfer agent. How long this takes depends on the agent or company you go through, but it can take up to several days. Or you can send money using an international money order. This takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on your origin and destination country.
Certain currencies may only be transferred during business hours. If you try to send money during a weekend, public holiday, or outside of local business hours, it might take longer for your recipient to receive the money.
How much does it cost to send money to Thailand?
Fees vary based on where you’re sending money from, the payment method, the payout method, and the transfer amount. You can check how much it will cost before or after logging into your Ria account via the app or website. This will give you an estimate of the current rate and any related fees for your transfer.
To check the cost in the app, click “Check price” (or “Send” if you’re already logged in). Then, select Thailand and enter how much you’re sending, your preferred payout currency, payment method, and delivery method. You can also enter a promo code at this time.
Sending money to a recipient’s bank account tends to be cheaper than other methods. The tradeoff is that it may take longer to go through.
How can I track my transfer to Thailand?
Tracking your transfer is important, so Ria makes it easy for you and your recipient. We have a convenient tool called “Track a Transfer” that provides real-time updates, no matter where you are.
You don’t need an account to use this tool on the website. However, you will need to enter the PIN associated with the transfer. You can find the PIN in your confirmation email and your Ria account if you have one.
If you do have an account, simply log in and select “Track” from the app. Or, if you’re on the Ria website, go to the “Track a transfer.” Then, enter your PIN to view any pending transfers. If you live in Australia, you must provide the recipient’s country and the sender’s date of birth.
As a sender, you’ll also receive automatic email updates about any notable status changes to your Thailand remittance. If you want your recipient to be able to track the transfer as well, you’ll need to share the transfer details with them. To do this, go to the “Activity” screen on the app or website, select “Transfer Details,” and share the information via text message or email.
What's the best way to send money to Thailand?
There are many ways to complete a money transfer to Thailand, including:
•Bank transfer: You can send or receive money via a bank transfer. This might take longer than a direct debit, but it’s also usually cheaper.
•Debit or credit card: For faster transfers, you can send money via a debit or credit card. Both of these may be more expensive than bank transfers, though. Credit cards might also come with additional fees.
•Money transfer agent: This option lets you quickly and securely send money, pay bills, and more for a fee.
•International money order: With a money order, simply determine how much money you want to send, then mail it to your recipient. Once it arrives, your recipient can exchange it for cash.

What information will I need to send money to Thailand?
Sending money to Thailand is convenient and secure, but you will need a few details about your recipient to complete a transfer. These include their:
•Address in Thailand
•First and last name (this must match their government-issued ID)
•Phone number
•Amount to be transferred (including the current exchange rate and related fees)
•Payment method
•Payout method (e.g., bank deposit, cash pickup, digital wallet, or home delivery)
Depending on the payout method, you may also need to provide additional information. For example, a bank deposit typically requires the bank’s name, routing number, and the recipient’s account number.
How do I set up my first money transfer from the USA or Canada to Thailand?
The process of sending money to Thailand may vary depending on your location. However, setting up your first Thailand remittance is simple if you’re in the USA or Canada.
The first step is to ensure you have an active account with Ria. If you haven’t yet verified your phone number or finished setting up your online profile, now’s the time to do so.
Once your account is properly set up, you can log in and initiate a transfer via the app or website. Or, if you’d prefer, you can go to a Ria location near you and send money that way.
If you decide to send money online or via the app, you must add someone new to your account. Be prepared to provide details about your recipient, such as their full name, location, and phone number. In the case of bank transfers, you’ll also need their banking information.
Next, input how much money you want to send in your currency or how much you want them to receive in theirs. You’ll also need to decide which type of transfer you want to do — such as a bank transfer or cash pickup. If you’re in a hurry, the fastest way to send money is via debit or credit card. This may come with additional fees, though.
Once everything’s settled, you must pay for your transfer via the app or website. If you’ve never made a transfer before, you can add a new payment method to your account before sending money. Otherwise, you can use an existing payment method.
After you’ve completed your first transfer, you can send money to an existing recipient without having to reenter all of their information.
What happens after I send my money transfer to Thailand?
Once you’ve scheduled a money transfer to Thailand, you can track it online or via the app. Our advanced tool lets you track your transfer in real time, regardless of where you live. Your recipient can also use this tool, even if they don’t have a Ria account.
If you want to track a transfer on the website, you can scan the QR code to get started. You can then choose to track your transfer via the app or the website. In both cases, you must input the PIN you received in your confirmation email (also found in your account).
Sending money to Thailand is generally a quick process, but the speed can depend on the payment and payout method, as well as the time and day you initiate the transfer. Most debit or credit card transfers with Ria are completed on the same day you set them up — sometimes within 15 minutes.
However, it could take up to 5 business days for a transfer to go through. Longer wait times may occur if we need more information for security reasons or if you’ve scheduled a transfer on a holiday or weekend.
How do I view my transfer status when sending from the USA or Canada to Thailand?
If you want to proactively track your transfer to Thailand, you can do so via the Track a Transfer tool on the website or app. This is the fastest way to view your transfer, whether you’re the recipient or the sender.
If you don’t want to use the tool, you’ll still receive important updates about your transfer via email. In the case of same-day transfers, you may find that the money goes through before you get around to tracking it in the first place.
How can I receive money in Thailand?
When you’re living abroad, the last thing you need is to worry about how to receive money quickly and securely while overseas. Fortunately, you have several options available to you.
If you plan to receive money in Thailand, you can do so through a cash transfer. This option lets you pick it up at a Ria location near you. We have 507,000 Ria locations worldwide — over 2,400 of which are in Thailand. You can find the location nearest you by entering your address on the app or website and filtering your search results by services, hours, and distance.
When you pick up your cash, you’ll need to bring your government-issued photo ID and the transfer’s unique PIN. Keep in mind that you’ll also need to be at least 18 years old to send or receive money with Ria.
Ria also allows you to receive money directly to your bank account. Just make sure to provide the sender with your full name, bank name or code, and bank account number.
Which payment methods can I use to pay for my own money transfer to Thailand?
Your payment options for transferring money through Ria depend on where you live and whether you’re using the app or website. From the app, you can pay in the following ways:
•Canada: Debit or credit card
•Chile: Cash or Sencillito
•USA: Bank transfer, debit card, credit card, or cash
•Europe and the United Kingdom: Debit card or credit card (some countries offer additional options, such as Klarna or Bancontact)
•Australia: Debit card, credit card, or PayID
•Malaysia: Debit card, cash, or FPX
•Singapore: Cash
From the website, you can pay via debit or credit card if you’re sending money to Australia, Canada, Spain, or the UK. If you’re sending money from the USA, you can also pay via cash or bank transfer.
Your chosen payment method can affect how quickly your money is transferred and how much it costs. Find more information about the benefits of each payment method here.
